The Legacy of Hedy Lamarr, and the Promise of 2026

At the turning epoch of my special day,
With cake and ice cream, casting cares away,
I joined a constellation cast of worth,
To celebrate the milestone of my birth.
A confluence of power, pulse, and heart,
Where commerce meets the philanthropic art.
Within the boardrooms and the corporate space,
The Esther Four-Fourteen collective has claimed its place:
A fellowship of donors, bold and bright,
United in ambition, matching stride with light.

“For such a time as this,” the ancient plea,
Now echoes through our modern tapestry.
We stepped beyond the safety of our shore,
To walk the shattered kibbutz paths in May of twenty twenty-four—
To stand with our Jewish brothers, sisters,
And demonstrate love that lights the way,
And offer our support to carve a hopeful, brighter day.
Through distant realms, we let our hands care,
To build a blessed future, strong, divine.

And there, among the vanguard of my peers,
I honored her who conquered silent spheres:
Hedy Lamarr, resplendent and austere,
A celluloid icon, an engineer.
Behind her beautiful smile and flawless face,
A titan intellect surveyed the space.
The world beheld a beauty born of light,
She was not distracted by the ciphers; she composed engineering code by night.

I think of my grandpa’s memories shared,
When drafted for the war, how soldiers fared.
With the King’s Royal infantry, motorized and brave,
He rode through the British Isles of Burma’s shadows, poised to save.
While men like him endured the muddy rains,
Hedy fought the Axis using just her brains.
An engineer like me, her brilliant mind designed the hopping codes they could not find.

Today, her genius breathes in unseen streams,
The pulsing web of Wi-Fi and our dreams.
She spun the very threads that now connect our www.esther414collective.org—
The architect of global connectivity across the wire,
Where brilliant minds and steadfast hearts aspire.
Her legacy of satellite and space,
Now binds our collective women in corporate careers in one place.

Now in this year of promise, twenty-twenty-six,
We see the mortar where our visions mix.
As ancient wisdom breathed in Ecclesiastes four and twelve,
Into the depths of partnership we delve.
A threefold cord, resilient and divine,
Not quickly broken by the test of time.
We watch the spoken prophecy unfold,
As tangible expansions break the mold.

So enter this pavilion of the bold,
Where stories of empowerment are told.
Collective problem-solving with career women burning bright and clear,
A sanctuary, virtual yet near.
Come, create the future, elevate the fray,
And champion the dawn of a new day.
In fleeting moments, let our lives endure—
A legacy, compassionate, and pure.
