As An Engineer I Am Always Reading & Studying
The monitors dim, the systems sleep, the architecture stands pristine,
It’s been a long week of engineering, building what the future means.
From microchips to AI streams, the Internet's expansive sea,
We built the grids and span the bounds of modern technology.
I pack my bags as evening falls, the peaceful dusk has finally come,
I breathe a sigh of deep relief and whisper, Shabbat Shalom.
We gaze above to starry skies, where lunar dust once met the Artemis II crew boots,
Apollo’s flight, a grand design, from grounded math to stellar roots.
We celebrate the moonlit steps, the engineering bold and brave,
The rovers on the Martian dust, the silicon that charts the wave.
A testament to human minds, to techies breaking every bar,
Designing rockets, bridges, codes, that launch our dreams among the stars.
But first, we meet where songbirds trill and wind sweeps through the willow trees,
My peers and I ascend the trail, embraced by Appalachian breeze.
With backpacks tight and boots laced and tied in bows, we breathe the crisp and mountain air,
And share a picnic on the ridge, a quiet feast of friendship there.
The valley stretches far below, a tapestry of nature's sheen,
The most magnificent display our tired eyes have ever seen.
Then onward to the capital, our nation’s proud, historic start,
Where D.C. days and D.C. nights a different kind of grace impart.
The sound of sweet reminders rings from hotels in the city's heart,
Of beautiful, majestic nights that set this capital apart.
From balconies we overlook the avenues of silver light,
Where monuments stand sentinel throughout the soft, poetic night.
Two hundred fifty years we stand, a beacon shining, fiercely bright,
Through trials faced and victories won, guided by a steadfast light.
I’m moving in, these fleeting days, amidst the monumental stone,
To stand beneath the glowing domes and know we’re not alone.
For Americans are built of grit, a brilliant, vast, diverse array,
From pioneers to modern minds, we forge the path and light the way.
From fifty unique, states, the tapestry of freedom's spun,
From Maine's brisk shores to Texas plains, beneath the blazing Southern sun.
From Rocky Mountain majesty to Florida's warm ocean breeze,
From golden Californian coasts to vast Alaskan frozen seas.
Each state a unique, sacred thread, woven in this grand design,
Where liberty and enterprise and bold spirits all combine.
For every Wednesday we have fast, our spirits bowed in earnest prayer,
And Friday tarry nights we wept, entrusting Heaven with our care.
We pleaded for this very hour, this gathering of faith and love,
To seek the Lord’s almighty Hand, His blessings pouring from above.
We pray for corporate minds to continue innovating, the Esther Four-Fourteen,
To realize for such a time they stand upon this shifting scene.
A collective of corporate career professionals, called out to be Christians,
To lead the boardroom with their good character, integrity, faith, fulfilling holy missions.
We saw our President, Donald J. Trump, read to us the Holy Bible,
On April twenty-first this year, his message deeply felt and heard.
At the America Reads the Bible event, from the Oval Office desk,
He read Second Chronicles seven-fourteen, a timely, sacred quest.
It inspired our souls to seek the Word of God, from elders to youth,
To study Scripture day and night, and stand upon its truth.
Now here we gather to convene, to dedicate with reverent awe,
Our fifty blessed United States to the sovereign Lord of all.
We tie these prayers to liberty, the Freedom Two-Five-Zero,
Where every citizen is blessed, where courage makes a hero.
A national revival of pure praise, giving glory to God in prayer,
To let the sound of worship rise, and fill the shifting, evening air.
We dedicate our hard-won toil, our land, our nation’s sacred states,
And lift this weekend, heart and soul, in humble prayers.
