The Keeper Who Never Slumbers
In the quiet of the morning, we lift our eyes to ancient hills, from whence our help arrives—the Keeper who never slumbers nor stills. Seventy-eight years—a mere heartbeat in the vast span of eternity, yet a lifetime of wonders, etched by the finger of Divine decree. Happy Birthday, Israel, beloved firstborn son of Adonai. We stand in awe before the Ancient of Days, whose Word is the hammer that shatters the silence of the ages.
The Birth in a Day (1948)
When empires and hostile powers declared it impossible, the Breath of God whispered, “Now.” Out from the devastating ashes of the Shoah, a nation rose to take its bow. A valley of dry bones clothed anew in flesh, drawing the sweet air of home. You shielded the fragile against the ruthless, with protection from above, establishing a home for the remnant.
“Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?” (Isaiah 66:8)
The Ingathering of the Remnant
From the icy grip of the North and the hidden corners of the South, you whispered to the wind, and songs of return filled every mouth. From the heights of Ethiopia, upon eagles’ wings they flew, from the Soviet steppes, the heavy iron gates swung wide anew. They returned with gladness—the ransomed of the Lord, ascending unto Zion.
“I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 43:6)
The Gates of the City (1967)
The day the ram’s horn echoed through the ancient stone, when the Lion’s Gate opened wide, and the Western Wall claimed its own. Jerusalem, the city of our Great King, made whole and standing bold— No longer a city divided, but a crown of beauty for all to behold. You restored the ancient paths where prophets once walked, and the heart of the world began to beat again.
“I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.” (Zechariah 8:8)
The Desert’s Bloom
The parched expanse of the Negev tastes the sweet rain of Your favor; The wilderness forgets its barrenness, yielding fruit for us to savor. Where there was only sand, spring, the vine, and the pomegranate bloom, Israel feeds the world from a sacred land of the Bible. The ancient desolate spaces are rebuilt, their stories retold, and the ruins are being raised in living glory, exactly as foretold.
“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom.” (Isaiah 35:1)
The Shield of the Almighty
Through wars and rumors of wars, Your shadow remains our shelter, When arrows fly by day, You are the wall of fire in the welter. A modern miracle of preservation—a bush that burns but is not consumed, proving to the nations the Holy One’s presence has resumed. You have planted them deep within their own sacred soil, never to be uprooted, honoring their tears and their toil.
“I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them, says the Lord your God.” (Amos 9:15)
We Pray In Awe & Celebration…
O Living God, Sovereign King of the Universe, our mortal words are far too frail to capture the majesty of Your wonders. We offer prayers praising You for seventy-eight years of Your steadfast, unfailing faithfulness that nothing can sunder. Lord, always bless Israel and on her 78th year—keep her radiant, resilient, and utterly restored in You!
We fervently pray that her borders will know absolute, enduring peace, honoring Adonai’s unbreakable promise. May her towering walls know eternal salvation, standing as a bright, unquenchable beacon to the nations. Let Your divine light break forth over them like the morning dawn, forever banishing the night, until the whole earth is saturated with the awe-inspiring knowledge of Your glory.
Baruch Atah Adonai—Blessed are You, O Lord, the grand Author of this redemptive story, Who keeps His covenant and His steadfast promises from generation to generation. Amen.
